Telestream FlipFactory Helps OmniBus iTX Automation Users Make Rapid Shift to IT-Based Transmission

FlipFactory Workflow Solution Enables Users of iTX Software-Based Automation to Continue Leveraging Content Stored on Existing Video Server Systems

DENVER — April 24, 2006 — OmniBus Systems today announced that Telestream, the leading provider of multiformat, multivendor, file-based workflow solutions, is now offering a solution that enables users of OmniBus Systems’ iTX software-based automation systems to continue leveraging content stored on existing video servers. Telestream’s FlipFactory allows users to flip video content from servers onto IT-based storage networks without re-encoding or re-ingesting that media.

“With its introduction of an IT-based transmission solution, OmniBus is in a great position to lead change in the industry,” said Telestream President David Heppe. “FlipFactory allows broadcasters with significant investments in video server systems to get on board and benefit from the company’s flexible iTX automation solution. With its powerful, automated transcoding capabilities, FlipFactory interfaces to all leading server systems and makes valuable media assets available for use within iTX and the IT-based broadcast environment.”

Telestream’s FlipFactory workflow applications offer quick, powerful, and automatic format conversion and media transfer capability critical to streamlining workflows that rely on media in multiple formats. The system integrates easily with Omneon, Pinnacle, Leitch, Grass Valley, and other leading servers to facilitate a fast exchange of media from the video server system into OmniBus Systems’ iTX automation solution.

The product of 15 years of innovation in high-end automation, the new OmniBus iTX intelligent transmission software replicates video server, master control, graphics, and logo inserters to a very high level of sophistication and provides functionality including automation, ingest, editing, and basic content management. The innovative solution enables small- and mid-sized broadcasters to make a measured, cost-effective migration from the traditional hardware-based world toward a next-generation, software-based transmission facility.

“Telestream has emerged as a true strategic partner, allowing us to provide a wider range of workflow solutions for our broadcasting and cable clients,” said OmniBus CEO Mike Oldham. “iTX has quickly established itself as a leading next-generation solution, and access to the FlipFactory technology will be a critical component for broadcasters hoping to capitalize on their extensive video libraries and server infrastructures while moving toward IT-based operations.”
