OmniBus Announces Integration of Its iTX Transmission With Omneon MediaGrid Active Storage System
OmniBus iTX and Omneon MediaGrid Deliver Intelligence, Power, and Scalability to Broadcast and Video Production Operations
DENVER — Sept. 8, 2006— OmniBus Systems today announced that it has chosen to integrate its iTX software-based transmission system with the Omneon MediaGrid active storage system. iTX supports any standard IT file store, and when paired with the MediaGrid storage system, it provides broadcasters and media companies with advanced, intelligent technologies that enhance the efficiency of digital media storage, access, and management throughout the transmission chain.
"iTX is designed to allow broadcasters to take advantage of our proven automation technology in combination with a wide variety of storage technologies, such as the MediaGrid active storage system from Omneon," said Jay Schwartzberg, vice president of OmniBus for iTX sales. "With this flexibility, broadcasters can implement highly scalable solutions capable of meeting both their current and long-term technology needs."
OmniBus Systems' iTX represents a revolutionary approach to software-based transmission and production using standard IT hardware and Windows Media technology. The software replicates all functions of master control to a very high level of sophistication, allowing small and mid-sized broadcasters to make a measured migration from the traditional hardware-based world toward a next-generation software-based transmission facility or to deploy disaster recovery systems, IPTV services, or additional transmission services.
The MediaGrid active storage system from Omneon is designed for the demands of working with large digital media files within broadcast and video production facilities. Combining grid storage and grid computing through the use of multiple intelligent, interconnected-yet-independent storage servers, the new system enhances the efficiency of digital media access for multiple users and applications across the broadcast workflow. The MediaGrid system's centralized shared storage is scalable in capacity, bandwidth, and media-processing power, capabilities that allow the system to eliminate bottlenecks associated with traditional shared-storage environments.
"Our goal is to allow broadcasters and other media companies to handle their media assets with ease, creativity, and versatility throughout the production and transmission workflow," concluded Geoff Stedman, vice president of marketing for Omneon. "Omneon's MediaGrid provides an open platform, along with the performance and flexibility needed to support a wide range of future broadcast models."
