OmniBus Systems' iTX Transmission System Recognized for Innovation in Content Delivery at IBC2006
LONDON — Oct. 17, 2006— OmniBus Systems has been recognized as a finalist for the IBC2006 Innovation Award, ranking among the top three companies in the category of content delivery. The company was acknowledged for its unique implementation at Red Bee Media, Europe's leading expert in the distribution and promotion of multimedia content, where OmniBus' iTX intelligent transmission technology provides the industry's first completely software-based playout platform.
"OmniBus has always believed that innovative products need to be designed in close co-operation with customers, and we have enjoyed a long and creative relationship with Red Bee Media," said OmniBus Systems CTO Ian Fletcher. "The feedback we have received from working with the company on this project has been invaluable in helping us to deliver the rich feature set required to meet the demands of such high-end broadcasters."
The product of 15 years' experience in high-end automation and three years in development, the new OmniBus iTX intelligent transmission software replicates all the functions of master control to a very high level of sophistication, allowing broadcasters and media groups to make a measured migration from a traditional hardware-based operation to a next-generation, software-based transmission facility.
The iTX system software fulfills a variety of roles: video server, master control, graphics, and logo inserter, with functionality including automation, ingest, editing, and basic content management. Through the software's flexible and intuitive drag-and-drop interface, staff can monitor and control multiple channels on-screen simultaneously. Captions, logos, vision effects, and even audio effects are built right into the interface.
"We welcome the opportunity to work with suppliers on projects that offer benefits to our clients," said Ian Stubbs, head of operational strategy at Red Bee Media. "Solutions such as this promise to reduce the cost of providing linear playout services while, at the same time, increasing flexibility and resilience."
Available with industry-standard IT servers optimized with the latest AMD Opteron processors, as well as modifications that maximize bandwidth usage and real-time video processing, iTX serves as an unusually easy-to-maintain and cost-effective playout solution for moderately sized transmission facilities, emerging transmission markets, disaster recovery systems, or companies launching IPTV services.
