OmniBus Systems Develops iTX Transmission Package for PBS Stations
Customizable iTX Bundle Designed Specifically for PBS Enables More Versatile and Cost-Effective Operations
DENVER — Oct. 18, 2006— OmniBus Systems has created a special automation package for PBS stations based on the revolutionary OmniBus iTX intelligent transmission software system. The customizable iTX transmission bundle for PBS stations delivers tremendous cost savings, reducing installation time from months to days, decreasing hardware costs, lowering operational costs, and facilitating a seamless transition to HD broadcasting.

The iTX package for PBS stations comprises OmniBus software for iTX core services and backup iTX core services, as well as one standard SD output channel with a backup channel, one standard HD output channel with a backup channel, two master control effects and logo plug-ins for all included channels, two client workstations, and a traffic interface. Through its standard protocol, iTX can interface with leading traffic systems including ProTrack, Broadview, Scout, and others.
The iTX system software fulfills a variety of roles in accordance with broadcast stations' unique needs. The system takes on the role of video server, master control, graphics, and logo inserter with functionality including automation, ingest, editing, and basic content management. iTX provides the tools required for sophisticated branding and smooth transitions between clips, all available within a single drag-and-drop interface that allows operators to monitor and control multiple channels and schedules on-screen simultaneously.
As a format-independent and bit-rate-agnostic solution, iTX can mix DV, MPEG1 through MPEG4, AVI, and WMV formats freely, and will scale incoming media of any resolution to the appropriate output format, enabling SD and HD content to be mixed on the same playlist.
iTX is available with HP server systems, powered by AMD Opteron dual-core processors that effectively double the computing performance available to each motherboard processor socket. As a result, iTX is able to deliver fully featured editing and special effects functionality in addition to automation and master control.
Built on a forward-looking platform, iTX relies on Microsoft .Net connectivity and workflow technologies, Microsoft SQL Server data management tools, and the Microsoft Office suite of productivity products to provide a robust operating environment and potential for customization and system growth.
