| OmniBus iTX Powers Origin Digital's Broadcast Virtual Network Operation
iTX-Based Service Allows Broadcasters to Go to Air Without Investing in Playout and Automation Infrastructure
LAS VEGAS — April 16, 2007 — OmniBus Systems, the award-winning provider of comprehensive broadcast automation and content management solutions, today announced a partnership with broadband video solutions provider Origin Digital. Using OmniBus iTX, Origin Digital's Broadcast Odaptor provides an entirely new kind of service that allows broadcasters to bring channels to air without investing in playout and automation infrastructure, and manage the channels from any location via Web-based controls.
The functionality of iTX has been extended to be controllable from a virtual interface, providing Origin Digital's customers with Web-based access to every function they need, enabling existing broadcasters to enhance their operations with extra channels, and new broadcasters to launch cable, terrestrial, IPTV, or mobile TV channels.
"The creation of a hosted environment with a master control solution is unique, and an example of the profound changes iTX is bringing about in the industry," said Jay Schwartzberg, OmniBus VP of Sales, Americas. "iTX already greatly reduces the entry cost for bringing channels to air and providing disaster recovery, both for established broadcasters and new entrants. The unprecedented scalability iTX provides makes it possible for operators like Origin Digital to open up completely new horizons and business models."
Origin Digital's Broadcast Odaptor offers a ready-to-go broadcast playout infrastructure for a fullyhosted broadcasting service, with OmniBus iTX powering all the necessary operations, including digital media management and ingest, scheduling and playout, commercial insertion and branding, and transmission control across multiple platforms from a single original.
"Broadcasters today face constant challenges alternatively in delivering core scheduling, control automation, transmission and reporting functions, not to mention the pressures of launching new services through alternate channels of distribution," said Sue Spiner, VP sales and marketing, Origin Digital. "Together with OmniBus, we have developed a suite of channel-launch services utilizing a Broadcast Virtual Network Operator taxonomy that allows broadcasters to focus on driving cost of channel development down by reducing the complexity of creating synchronized, broadband or mobile distribution from a single dashboard."
Origin Digital will demonstrate their Broadcast Odaptor utilizing iTX-based broadcast management at NAB in the OmniBus booth.
