OmniBus Systems

Company Overview

OmniBus Systems, the award-winning provider of comprehensive broadcast automation, content management and workflow solutions, will be demonstrating at IBC2007 the latest version of iTX, the ground-breaking master control and playout application. iTX is being used as a high-end enterprise-wide broadcast playout system in a variety of applications and by broadcasters ranging from single-channel operators to large multinationals. The OmniBus exhibit will also include a preview of iTX 1.2, as well as the debut of OPUS Smart Client, the first of a new range of software products that enhance OmniBus' product offering for broadcasters and deliver value whether the customer is operating in a conventional hardware-based environment, transitioning to a more IT-based model, or creating an entirely new facility based on the most advanced technology available.

New for IBC2007

NEW VERSION: OmniBus iTX 1.1 — OmniBus iTX is a revolutionary and category-defining product that replaces all of the functions of a broadcast master control and playout chain in a single software application. Powerful and fully featured for both SD and HD environments, iTX combines standard IT hardware and sophisticated software to significantly reduce the investment required to launch and operate a channel, without compromising production values.

At IBC2007, OmniBus will be showing how iTX can be used as a cost-effective and extremely flexible news production system, handling both playout and sophisticated ingest and editing operations. Version 1.1's features include advanced real-time 3D graphics options that deliver outstanding creative capabilities for news and live graphics transmission applications.

iTX 1.1 also delivers a range of new features including multiple audio tracks for multi-language applications, open and closed captions, HD ingest, support for a wide range of formats including IMX, XDCAM HD, MXF and GXF, surround sound capability, and live instant playback for news, sports and entertainment programs. Version 1.1 also offers comprehensive support for files used by the major server platforms to streamline integration with legacy systems.

PREVIEWING at IBC2007: OmniBus iTX 1.2 — Due for release in Q4 2007, iTX 1.2 features further developments for news and sports playout, enhanced video effects and real-time video processing. This version also includes the ability to control sub-channels for schedules with regional variations.

NEW VERSION: OmniBus OPUS 2 — OPUS 2 delivers unmatched capabilities for the end-to-end content process, including "soft-XML" support for customized logging and annotation, frame-accurate proxy generation and viewing, full-text indexing and searching, seamless integration with production editing systems like Avid® and Final Cut Pro® and standardized web services data exchange with adjacent systems. OPUS 2 offers new features — including integration with the new OPUS Smart Client — to aid the transition from conventional hardware-based environments to a more IT-based operation.

NEW PRODUCT: OmniBus OPUS Smart Client — The first of a new range of software products from OmniBus, OPUS Smart Client is a platform-independent application that provides a rich-media interface to OPUS systems from any web browser. Scalable for any enterprise, OPUS Smart Client is believed to be the first broadcast use of Microsoft® Silverlight™ technology, and gives access and control of the OPUS system to staff in edit suites, graphics production and any remote location. OPUS Smart Client users can search and view media, annotate, create keyframes and shotlists, and work collaboratively from their desktop PC or Mac, without the installation of any additional software. OPUS Smart Client has already been deployed to provide an enterprise asset management system at NRK in Norway.
