NTV7 Goes Live With OmniBus Colossus
Malaysia's First Terrestrial Digital Channel Shares Infrastructure With Stablemates TV3, 8TV and TV9
DENVER — March 5, 2008— OmniBus Systems, the award-winning provider of comprehensive broadcast automation and content management solutions, today announced that Malaysian broadcaster NTV7 (Natseven TV Sdn Bhd) has successfully gone live with an OmniBus Colossus automation system. Launched in 1998 as Malaysia's first digital terrestrial channel and now part of the Media Prima group, NTV7 shares its OmniBus automation infrastructure with Media Prima's other stations, TV3, 8TV and TV9, allowing the company to mix and match storage and share content across multiple servers, stations and users.
NTV7 opted for Colossus for its ability to scale with the growing multi-channel capability of the Media Prima group. Media Prima's other channels have been long-term OmniBus operators, using Columbus automation systems, with TV3, 8TV and TV9 also basing their news automation on the same core infrastructure. With NTV7's news bulletins soon to join them, all of Malaysia's TV news programs — including those of RTM, Malaysia's state broadcaster — will be automated by OmniBus.
"We are very pleased that all of Media Prima's channels are now based on OmniBus automation and are able to share the same infrastructure with each channel maintaining distinctive operations," said Andy Stanton, OmniBus sales manager, Asia Pacific. "There are great benefits in terms of workflow and use of assets between the stations, and these will increase soon with the introduction of new automated workflow tools to facilitate scalability in the storage environment and in multi-channel operation."
OmniBus Colossus is a fully featured transmission product that provides automation and control for broadcasters transmitting just a small number of channels while addressing the needs of those who want to rapidly add significant numbers of channels to their existing output.
Colossus integrates best-of-breed systems under transparent automation control and uses the backbone of proven OmniBus device drivers that control traditional broadcast equipment, as well as innovations such as data streaming technology, to offer a radical approach to the design of automation and content delivery systems. It provides a robust and scalable solution that incorporates schedule management, event building and transitions, timeline monitoring, live-event management and cache management.
Colossus allows instantaneous monitoring of all channels from dedicated desktop layouts and makes it easy to add SD or HD channels quickly and inexpensively. Broadcasters using Colossus can manage any number of transmission streams, whether for conventional broadcasts, data or Internet delivery.
