Traffic Replaces Transmission Services With OmniBus iTX
DENVER — February 24, 2009 — OmniBus Systems today announced that South African media specialist Traffic Corporate Media Communications has launched a new transmission service with OmniBus iTX. Working in partnership with Questek Broadcast Technologies, the installation of this unique software-based production, automation and playout system has allowed Traffic to install an initial two-channel configuration of iTX providing its clients with a world-class direct transmission solution.
Traffic offers delivery to all local broadcasters as well as direct services on Intelsat 7 and Galaxy 11 satellites. These coverage footprints allow Traffic's clients to reach more than 15 African countries including South Africa, Botswana, Angola, Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda and Ghana from one central point with live or delayed transmission.
"Traffic chose OmniBus iTX as it offers an integrated playlist management system with a highly scalable and open service for direct transmission," said Traffic's managing director, Jason Cowan.
OmniBus iTX is the next-generation solution that makes the conventional broadcast automation, master control and playout chain obsolete. Combining and exceeding all the functions of a conventional transmission chain in a single, integrated suite of software applications, iTX is flexible, open and feature-rich, and offers a significantly more configurable and responsive end-to-end solution for a wide range of operating environments. With market-beating support for SD and HD, and an exceptional ability to integrate with third-party systems, iTX delivers the most powerful solution available while significantly reducing the investment required to launch and operate high-quality channels in broadcast, IPTV, mobile TV, disaster recovery and business continuity applications.
Traffic's substantial production and technical infrastructure has established the company as a market leader in the corporate media communications sector across Africa, providing end-to-end solutions including production, production facilities and delivery services. "With the ever-changing requirements of our client base, we are constantly equipping our operations with technology solutions such as iTX to ensure that we're able to deliver world-class content 24/7 at a competitive rate," said Cowan.
"We anticipate that the initial configuration of two channels will be expanded rapidly as customer demand increases," said Justin Thathiah, general manager of Questek Broadcast Technologies. "iTX allows the user to respond very quickly in a way that would be impossible with conventional transmission technology."
