OmniBus iTX Powers 1080p24 Breakthrough

DENVER — April 20, 2009 — OmniBus Systems today announced that OmniBus iTX, the ground-breaking enterprise-class iTX production and playout system, will be available for order at the 2009 NAB Show with full 1080p24 capability.

In its latest high-end configuration, iTX will also deliver other important innovations for broadcasters, including built-in Dolby® 5.1 surround sound decoding/encoding that allows full editing and mixing of Dolby encoded streams and a revolutionary approach to timecode handling, replacing frame-based timecode with integrated true digital time-based tracking.

Unlike other offerings available today, this new version of iTX delivers fully integrated 1080p24 capability across the entire production process, including ingest, media management, graphics and playout.

"The addition of 1080p24 capability makes OmniBus iTX a pioneering solution, able to deliver the true potential of HD broadcasting for the first time," said OmniBus CTO Ian Fletcher. "In a world of open-access content, broadcasters are seeking ways to differentiate their services, and providing outstanding quality is becoming increasingly important. It's a cornerstone of the iTX concept that all the high-end capabilities are in-built, so that any broadcaster using the system — even the smallest one-channel SD operation — has an easy and instant way of scaling up with more channels and the quality to meet any future contingency."

Used by a roster of major users including AT&T, Turner, DIRECTV, CNN, ABC, and the BBC, iTX powers large-scale high-end applications that require the ability to integrate into complex environments, provide exchange of data with the broadcaster's business and traffic systems, and respond instantly to input from a variety of sources. iTX's cost-effectiveness, low maintenance overheads and space-efficiency also make it appropriate for rapidly-developing smaller broadcasters and media groups developing a broadcast offering.

With a level of integration and interactivity that sets it apart from other IT-based products, iTX gives broadcasters at the heart of primetime operations a high degree of responsiveness to late-breaking events, last minute interventions and instant changes to on-screen graphics and information displays. iTX's powerful facilities for regional opt-outs and commercial breaks across multiple regions make it an agile system for developing and serving audiences on a global scale and driving effective revenue models.
