Romania's Vox News TV Chooses iTX to Launch New Channels in Time for Presidential Election
LONDON — Jan. 27, 2010 — OmniBus Systems, the award-winning provider of comprehensive broadcast automation, content management and workflow solutions, today announced that Romania's Vox News TV has installed OmniBus iTX to power the launch of two channels from its new studio facility in Bucharest. The new channels will be broadcast in SD with a mixture of news, sports and entertainment programming, and the launch was timed to coincide with the second round of the country's presidential elections in December.
Vox News TV is the country's latest broadcaster and is the third news channel in Romania. Vox News TV's iTX system has been configured for the broadcaster's two channels, with one additional backup channel, together with full iTX logo and graphics capability. The full system was installed and on-air within two weeks by local OmniBus reseller AF Marcotec.
"We have been committed since our inception in 2001 to a completely file-based workflow," said Dan Lita, technical consultant for News Television. "The iTX transmission platform is a logical high-quality choice for us in that context, and it offers so many benefits, like fitting into a much smaller footprint, running on easily sourced IT hardware and being able to play any type of media without proprietary format import or rewrapping. A lot of companies produce video servers but you have to buy separate automation and other components from different vendors: by contrast, the iTX system offers all the elements of the transmission chain in a single unit — commercials, promos, logos, AFD signalling, crawls, are all originated from within a single box — and this means we can create an entire high-quality multichannel transmission infrastructure from scratch for less than the cost of a conventional automation system alone."
"The speed of installation is a major advantage of the iTX system, and Vox News TV had a very tight deadline to meet for the Presidential elections," said Catalin Nitu, managing director of AF Marcotec. "To be able install a fully featured transmission and automation system with high-specification graphics and audio capabilities and be on-air with it inside two weeks is really something new — it makes a real change to the way broadcasters can do business."
With a roster of major-league users including AT&T™, Turner, DIRECTV, CNN, ABC and the BBC, the all-software iTX platform is being used to drive large-scale primetime broadcasting services applications that require the ability to integrate into complex environments, provide exchange of data with the broadcaster's business and traffic systems and respond instantly to input from a variety of sources. Around 1,000 channels of iTX are in operation around the world.
