SETTE Spins Planète HD With OmniBus Systems iTX
DENVER — March 30, 2010 — OmniBus Systems, the award-winning provider of comprehensive broadcast automation, content management and workflow solutions, today announced that Montreal-based post-production and broadcast facility SETTE inc. has gone live in Canada with the international feed of the documentary channel Planète HD using OmniBus iTX.
"iTX is a full-featured and well-integrated platform that works the new way broadcasters want to work," said Dominique Mennessier, COO, SETTE. "OmniBus' experience in automation systems is a major advantage. The project was handled very professionally and with great responsiveness, since the installation timeframe was relatively short."
Given its successful experience with Planète HD, SETTE plans to deploy another iTX infrastructure for further channel launches in the near future.
SETTE's iTX configuration provides a fully redundant system with complete resilience in framework infrastructure and mirrored playout, together with a very high degree of availability from the Isilon network-attached storage. Key operational requirements for SETTE were the ability for the broadcaster to specify the viewing aspect ratio for each piece of content by inserting AFD data in the VANC (Vertical Ancillary Data Space), custom schedule import and a streamlined ingest capability.
"SETTE's requirements for the Planète HD channel were relatively straightforward, but even in a simple workflow, broadcasters need a system that's easy-to-use and that delivers the essential capabilities a properly designed broadcast-ready platform provides. OmniBus was pleased to be able to deliver such a system quickly," said Ric Belding, senior system architect, OmniBus Systems. "Because iTX has grown out of decades of automation and transmission experience, it's full-featured and makes immediate sense to broadcasters — and that's crucial when they have an urgent deadline to meet."
OmniBus iTX is the next-generation solution that makes the conventional broadcast automation, master control and playout chain obsolete. Combining and exceeding all the functions of a conventional chain in a single integrated suite of software applications, iTX is flexible, open and feature-rich and offers a significantly more configurable and responsive end-to-end solution for a wide range of operating environments. With market-beating support for SD and HD formats and exceptional ability to integrate with third-party systems, iTX delivers the most powerful solution available while significantly reducing the investment required to launch and operate high-quality channels in broadcast, IPTV, mobile TV, disaster recovery and business continuity applications.
